Swing for the Stars™ is Link’s Golf Shack LLC’s in-house, grass roots community program. Swing for the Stars is designed to help at-risk and financially disadvantaged youth get involved in their school golf program by providing grants in the way of golf clubs, golf accessories, golf gear, and golf lessons.

At Links Golf Shack, we believe that involvement in school sponsored athletics is a positive influence on America’s youth. Athletics provide kids with an opportunity to be a part of something positive and constructive. Organized school sports also deter counterproductive behaviors by filling free-time with healthy activities that help develop skills that will be used throughout life. Studies have also shown that youth who participate in sports are much more likely to meet academic expectations, as maintaining a school-required grade point average is an required to remain active on athletic teams. Kids may also stay enrolled in school and have an increased likelihood of graduating. Many may even receive athletic scholarships that will allow them to pursue higher education.

All sports provide structure, comradery, sportsmanship, a feeling of personal and team pride, and exposure to positive role models. Golf, however, provides so many more skills to be utilized throughout life. Golf teaches decision making, self-discipline, risk vs reward, strategy, patience, etiquette, humility, visualization, overcoming adversity, and so many other essential life skills.
